This collection contains material on Cyrus B. King's involvement with North Carolina State University's Friends of the Library Group, notes and speeches given in honor of Library retirees. Also included are notes on race relations on the campus of North Carolina State University, general correspondence, including correspondence with Congressman David Price, notes, clippings, and correspondence on social issues such as human rights, racial justice, the death penalty, and the anti-Vietnam war movement. The correspondence series contains letters to and from a variety of local, state, and national political figures, including North Carolina House of Representatives member Dan Blue; former mayor of Charlotte and Senatorial hopeful, Harvey Gantt; U.S. Representative Fred Heineman; Senator Jesse Helms; Brad Miller; journalist David Potorti; Senator Paul Simon; Janet Reno, David Price, Lauch Faircloth, W.W.
